Silicon slag is a byproduct of the smelting process of ferro silicon. Due to the presence of certain amounts of free silicon and silicon carbide in silicon slag, it can be used as a high-quality raw material for smelting pig iron, ferromanganese alloys, and as a substitute for ferro silicon powder as a deoxidizer in steel making.
