Silicon Carbide Powder's Performance and Applications!
Release time: 2025-10-09

Silicon Carbide Powder Product Description:

Silicon Carbide Powder is a green crystalline material with a high hardness, strong cutting ability, stable chemical properties, and excellent thermal conductivity. Its microscopic appearance is hexagonal. Silicon Carbide has a Mohs hardness of 9.2, a Vickers microhardness of 3000-3300 kg/mm², a Knoop hardness of 2670-2815 kg/mm², and a microhardness of 3300 kg/cm².

It is a more abrasive material than corundum, second only to diamond, cubic boron nitride, and boron carbide. Its density is generally considered to be 3.20 g/mm³. Silicon Carbide abrasive has a natural bulk density between 1.2-1.6 g/mm³, and a specific gravity of 3.20-3.25. Green Silicon Carbide is made from petroleum coke and high-quality silica as the main raw materials, with salt as an additive, and is smelted in a resistance furnace at high temperature.

Silicon Carbide Powder features high thermal conductivity, high high-temperature strength, wear resistance, thermal shock resistance, and corrosion resistance. It is an ideal raw material for blast furnace linings, ceramic kiln furniture, muffle furnaces, cement rotary kilns, aluminum refining furnaces, zinc smelting furnaces, and waste incinerators. It is primarily used for wire sawing of 3-12 inch single crystal silicon, polycrystalline silicon, potassium arsenide, and quartz crystals. It is an engineering processing material for the solar photovoltaic, semiconductor, and piezoelectric crystal industries.

Silicon Carbide Powder has four major application areas: functional ceramics, high-grade refractories, abrasives, and metallurgical raw materials.
